People I Know: Peewee

So, I was looking through my old pictures the other night, trying to see if there's something I should expand into a full blown project. I saw this picture of Peewee I took the day after I got my Rollei, the day after my 31'st birthday. I realized that all my pictures on here have no people in them that I know. I thought about that and realized that I've always been afraid to turn on my people skills when it comes to taking pictures. So as a motivation, I've posted this on here to get me to work on my square format with people in them, people I know and nothing but...

Kiev60: A test

Ok, ok... i know, this is not a remarkable picture at all. The only value to this is that this is the only decent picture out of 12 from my test roll which isn't the best film I've laid my hands on either. So, at the very least, yeah... my new square format is totally heavy and totally sharp. In other words, I can't wait to test it out with an Ilford.

Dubai Streets: In colour

I like these pictures a lot but I don't really know what to do with them. I feel like they're too random to be in the same album together. I guess the only reason why they're together because they're all in natural colours and not in my usual treatment. I really feel I should get used to this kind of treatment though

DIY Red Filter

I got a nice deal for filters for my Rollei in Quiapo and I decided to use the skylight as a red filter using a red marker. Supposedly, red filters make blue hues appear darker on black and white. Apparently, you have to use the real deal to get the real effect

Dubai Streets

This set was created early July but I've just put them up today. These were the first few shots I took from the ill-fated Ilford50 that got messed up so they have the same sun bleached effect which I like a lot.

Travel: Singapore in B&W

A messed up developing time turned out great on an Ilford50. Hurray for happy accidents :)

Creative Contact: Result

This is the result of the collaborative effort Drawonphoto. I'm so impressed by the illustration I feel like i want to do some more. Well, we'll see what Dwynn (the illustrator) has to say about that. I really hope we can do some more. Of course, if someone else out there wants to collaborate, drop me a line at fluidmail@gmail.com

Creative Contact: Swallowed

This is a colored set for the project Drawonphoto. I took these at Al Wasl road shortly before I took the other one before this which was in Safa Park. Took me an hour and a half walking under the sun trying to figure out how to take these particular pictures. It was fun going out like that in the middle of the day and not having any idea for a picture in that sad, sad landscape.

Creative Contact: A forest

Here's a set for the collaborative effort Drawonphoto project in which an artist draws on a picture. My bit is looking weird at the moment although I can't wait for the results to come. I took these at Safa Park in the middle of the day meaning I thought I'd die of heat stroke! I was using this old folding camera (ADOX) courtesy of Kamil of helloanalog.com and wasn't expecting those light leaks in the middle of the frame. Now it looks like a scene from Hansel and Gretel.

Abri: Black & White Soul

As far as I can remember, (this obviously is a very late post) that night was undoubtably soul. (more pictures later)

Ziryab: Space Guitars

Here's another set off this music thing I'm into at the moment all from The Fridge. Ziryab plays stylized space guitars with the volume going up to 11 all the while fusing elements of jazz, world, latin and some Stevie Wonder on the side. This music phase really is a re-visitation of a previous obsession I once had with music and bands only this time it's on film!

The Afif Quintet: Jazz In Black & White

I'm kinda into jazz like a bystander to a marathon. A spectator to a sport so into itself that it will exist as long as there are marathoners. Jazz is like that, kind of... jazz will be there as long as jazz musicians are willing to learn and play for themselves whether or not someone will listen. But like marathon, even if you don't run yourself, you will always root for those who are crazy enough to go the distance. And that's how jazz is for me; I will always appreciate the music these jazzmen create whether or not I understand the music they're playing.

In-House B&W

I just developed my first black & white negatives! It came out alright, actually. Though, if you look hard enough, you'll see some paw prints on one side of the frame. Guess which one.
These pictures were taken February of this year. It's quite old, I know, but I was hesitant to start my own developing :p

Nightscapes

Streaky long exposures could be a bit of fun while you're doing it but can also look juvenile-like if overdone which is exactly what it is. I've a lot but these are the ones i like a lot.

A project I thought I might expand. Light streaks and all that stuff could have its place here. I could also try different kinds of film and see how it works. Hmmmnnn... let's see, now...
