A Family of Two: Katja & Zoe

The Zialcitas captured in different moods. Surely, there are more from this set but these are my favorites and can go very well as a triptych. I particularly like the mood on the third one, very serene indeed.

Last Flight: Travel Alone

A post long overdue: finally started developing the films I have stuck in a bag somewhere, thanks to tambolbee's prodding, actually. I don't remember how I felt then when I was taking these pictures but it sure looks like it was so sad when I passed through Hong Kong. This was around the time I was coming home from Dubai, when I decided to stay back here for good.

Boy Darko

All right, another photo from the vault. Took this in Manila about a year and a half ago with Chankol ...and Val could have been there too... but anyway, yes, i thought of putting it up here to remind me that I need to take new pictures.

This totally slipped my mind as I remember being so excited on taking this on site then just forgot about it right after developing. Cleaned it up a little after noticing that I didn't really do a very good job the first time around. Another significant thing is that I'm thinking of having this printed along with some other pictures on here; pieces to remind me to take more pictures everyday. Right...

People I Know: Mario

I took this picture around October of last year in Dubai. I'm not really sure why I took this picture but I remember Mario was getting ready for work while I was fooling around having breakfast. I just thought it strange how this picture captured Mario's general mood and anxiety. This was before he was sent home to the Philippines, a few days before everything went down.

People I Know: Jan

Went home and came back from Davao. I realized i'm missing so much as my niece grows up... hope to meet you again soon, Jan.

Cebu: Downtown Revisited

Still in color mode; this time revisiting my second home. In Cebu, change is the order of things but then again, some things never change.

Davao Streets

After a long hiatus, I'm finally back into the swing of things: new place, new modes of thinking, and finally, new pre-occupations. As a peace offering to those who've waited, here are four of my most recent pictures off the streets of Davao. Soon enough, we'll be hatching new plans for another foray into monotone territory, but for now, we'll have to do with color :)

People I Know: Peewee

So, I was looking through my old pictures the other night, trying to see if there's something I should expand into a full blown project. I saw this picture of Peewee I took the day after I got my Rollei, the day after my 31'st birthday. I realized that all my pictures on here have no people in them that I know. I thought about that and realized that I've always been afraid to turn on my people skills when it comes to taking pictures. So as a motivation, I've posted this on here to get me to work on my square format with people in them, people I know and nothing but...

Kiev60: A test

Ok, ok... i know, this is not a remarkable picture at all. The only value to this is that this is the only decent picture out of 12 from my test roll which isn't the best film I've laid my hands on either. So, at the very least, yeah... my new square format is totally heavy and totally sharp. In other words, I can't wait to test it out with an Ilford.

Dubai Streets: In colour

I like these pictures a lot but I don't really know what to do with them. I feel like they're too random to be in the same album together. I guess the only reason why they're together because they're all in natural colours and not in my usual treatment. I really feel I should get used to this kind of treatment though

Note to self

I guess this will be a rationale of some sorts... Or maybe this is just me trying too hard to explain myself for fear of being misunderstood (which is mostly not the case). But still...
...anyway...

The following are some of the reasons why I've put up this blog:
  • I keep taking pictures in film that nobody ever sees (except me and the developer) because I keep it in a black box which is commonly known as a 'hard disk'
  • I need to keep track of my progress using a film camera and a hand-held light meter
  • I want to kick myself in the butt and start working on developing my own b&w negatives
  • I want to take more sensible pictures
I'm sure there are more reasons I should be putting down on this post but i can't think of anymore right now. I know they're all up there in my head.
